Jecure Therapeutics Inc. is an exciting, privately held biotech company based in San Diego that focuses on the discovery of novel therapeutics for liver disease. We seek an experienced and innovative Biochemist / Enzymologist for a Scientist or Senior Scientist position with responsibility for developing and utilizing in vitro enzymology assays relevant to liver disease biology. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in drug discovery. The position provides a great opportunity to join a small and growing dynamic biotech start-up at an early stage.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Apply biochemistry and enzymology knowledge and skills to design and execute in vitro experiments involving screening of small molecules 
  • Experience designing and implementing cell-free assays to profile a detailed mechanism of action of small-molecule agents.
  • Conduct target specific assays to determine binding Ki's with on and off rate determination
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge on project-related scientific literature.

Ph.D. with at least 5 years of relevant work experience preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in small molecule compound screening, preferably in an interdisciplinary drug discovery setting 
  • Competence in laboratory techniques such as enzymatic assay development, Alpha Screens, Thermal Shift / DSF assays, TR-FRET assays, ELISA, FACS and qPCR
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and propose new drug discovery assays
  • Experience in liver disease biology, specifically NASH and fibrosis is desirable
  • Experience in molecular biology and cell pharmacology is desirable
  • Experience in the use of si/shRNA reagents and/or CRIPSR/Cas9 technology is desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Collaborative team spirit, self-motivated and strong track record of innovation.
